History buffs will want to check out the Tate Barn and Huber Grove, where guests can learn about the significant influence the Swiss immigrant, Maria Huber, had on local pioneer life. Visit the museum and take in an interpretive lecture or visit the Huber Farmhouse and Creamery to see a demonstration on pioneer life while at the park.
RV campers will enjoy many amenities, including full hookups in one of the three pet-friendly campgrounds located in the park. For those wanting a more rustic experience, primitive tent-only camping is also available. The park even has cabins for some old fashioned ambiance. Transportation
Driving
Located in Midway, Utah, just 42 minutes northeast of Provo and only an hour southeast of Salt Lake City, Wasatch Mountain State Park is easy to find. Take I-80 east from Salt Lake City and US-189 from Provo. If you come for the winter season, you'll want to take the well-maintained main highways to get to this winter wonderland.
Once in the park, visitors should be able to maneuver rigs up to 40 feet without any major issues, although the campgrounds can take up 50-foot long rigs. Some of the parking is on a steep incline, so it makes maneuvering big rigs more difficult. Once you park your camper, you'll want to use an extra vehicle to get around the park, or just ride a bike or go about on foot.

Campsites in Wasatch Mountain State Park
Reservations Camping
Cottonwood Loop Campground
This loop contains 47 sites accommodating RVs and trailers up to 50 feet in length. Most of the sites in this loop are paved, back-in, and feature full hookups with 20-amp electric service, water, and sewer. Some sites are pull-through, and a few are only partial hookups, featuring 20-amp electricity and water. Each site comes with a fire ring, grill, and picnic table and are pet-friendly. Restrooms and showers are located nearby within the loop for your convenience.
Some visitors complain of sharp angles when parking and suggest limiting yourself to 40-foot rigs, and slide-outs are okay. Campgrounds are open Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Mahogany Loop Campground
The Mahogany Loop Campground features 31 RV sites that will allow up to 50-foot long rigs with full hookups, including 30-amp electric service, water, and sewer. Sites are paved and include fire rings, picnic tables and are pet-friendly. Restrooms and showers are located nearby within the loop for your convenience.
These sites are partially shaded and are close to the creek, so high waters could be a problem if you are in a tent, but you'll be fine in your RV. Roads and trails in this area might be muddy, however, so use caution. You can stay here from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Oak Hollow Loop Campground
The pet-friendly Oak Hollow Loop contains 19 RV and trailer sites with partial hookups, while the other 21 sites are tent-only. The maximum length of RV allowed in this loop is 30 feet long. Sites are paved and come with 20-amp electric service and water. Each site has a fire ring, grill, and picnic table. Restrooms and showers are located nearby and sites are open Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Wasatch Mountain State Park offers room for four RVs up to 35 feet in length with 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electric hookups and water service. The site holds up to 20 regular vehicles and has ten tent pads. The campsite holds up to 75 people and comes with fire rings, picnic tables, and BBQ grills. There is no sewer hookup, but there is a dump station nearby. You can camp here from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Cabins
The park has two cabins available for rent. Cabins sleep six and come equipped with electricity, AC, and heat. The cabins feature a mini-fridge and microwave oven for your convenience. Guests must bring their own linens and pillows. Restrooms and showers are located within walking distance, but showers are not available during winter months. Each cabin has a fire ring and a picnic table. No pets or smoking allowed. Reservations are required.

In-Season
Horseback Riding
A variety of private stables offers horseback riding packages through the many trails on Wasatch Mountain. Some interesting packages include horseback riding and river rafting combos and horseback riding and off-road vehicle adventuring. Whether you are a novice rider or an experienced equestrian, you can rent the right horse for your level and choose the package to suit your needs. Additionally, there are 13 miles of horseback riding trails available for use in the Dutch Hollow Trail system within the park. There's nothing like taking in the wonder and majesty of Utah from horseback.
Hiking
With over 16 miles of hiking trails, you'll have no trouble choosing which to hike on your RV vacation to Wasatch Mountain State Park. Hiking trails range from beginner to advanced with most falling in the moderate range. For an easy hike, just over a mile and a half, try the Huber Grove Trail. You can bring your leashed pet and stop and smell the wildflowers. If you are looking for a challenge and want to do some birding while you're at it, try the Boneyard Trail, which is only 1.8 miles in length but will get your blood pumping. If you want to take a long walk at a nice pace, the Dutch Hollow Trail from Burnt Ridge to Sage Loop is for you. It's 3.6 miles through beautiful wildflowers and colorful rocks. Bring your camera in your motorhome because you are sure to see some wildlife along these trails.
Golfing
If you're a golf lover, you are going to love the four 18-hole golf courses available during your RV stay at Wasatch Mountain State Park. Try the famous Soldier Hollow Golf Course, which offers two 18-hole courses at 5,900 feet of elevation. Take in the stunning views as you golf above the Heber Valley. Check out the difficulty level of the Silver or Gold courses, complete with elevation changes and obstacles such as scrub oaks and other native plants.
If you aren't that ambitious, you might like the Lake Course where ponds and old trees pepper the green. Have you ever golfed up a mountain? Well, the Mountain Course, where motorized golf carts are required, takes you up the mountain and down the other side, leading you conveniently back to the clubhouse at the end of your 18 holes. Get ready to tee off for some fun, whichever course you choose.
Off-Season
Cross-Country Skiing
Cross-country skiing is one of the most popular winter activities in the park. During the winter, those beautiful golf courses are perfectly groomed for your cross-country skiing excursion. You'll be in awe of the views of Heber Valley blanketed in snow as you make your way across both flat and hilly terrain. With over seven miles of trails, it's quite a workout, so make sure to bring plenty of water, and don't forget your camera.
Snowmobiling
With over 70 miles of trails running through the park and onto state forest lands, you can't ask for a better place to launch your Ski-Doo. Not only that, but the park also makes it easy to be comfortable along the way with warming stations located in the Visitor Center, the clubhouse at the golf course, and open restrooms along the way. Most trails are groomed and marked, but you'd do well to pick up a trail guide in the park's office before you head out. It's also not a bad idea to call the Avalanche Forecast Center to check the weather on your way out.
Snowshoeing
If you want to see the serene beauty of Wasatch Mountain in the winter, there's no better way than seeing it on snowshoes. Take your favorite hiking trail or join one of the many snowshoe activity tours the park offers. The park rangers host a variety of snowshoe tours such as "Track Me If You Can," where hikers learn tracking skills from experts or "Tree Snowshoe Hike" with Tree Utah experts who teach how to identify the local tree species. Dress warm and bring water as snowshoeing is an aerobic activity. If you don't have your own snowshoes, you can rent them in the park.
