Levi Jackson State Park
Visiting Levi Jackson State Park is like going back in time. The park is named in honor of one the first Kentucky pioneer settlers, Levi Jackson. The park is also known as Levi Jackson Wilderness Road State Park after changing ownership from the state to the city. In its 896 acres, the park is laced with nature and history ranging from historic trails to museums, defeated camp pioneer burial sites and McHargue Mill, making it a perfect RV spot to learn about Kentucky's rich history and get in touch with nature. The historic Wilderness Road from which the park derives its name was the prime route from Virginia to Kentucky used by early settlers in the late 1800s.
RV campers will love the fact that Levi Jackson State Park campground is rich in amenities and can perfectly accommodate large trailers. Located south of London, the park is open all year round, with May to October being the peak season. The park is very popular with locals because of its family-friendly activities ranging from hiking to outdoor games. The Russell Dyche Amphitheater is popular with locals who host community events here regularly. Picnickers can enjoy their meals in the many day-use areas throughout the park. Additionally, there are four picnic shelters for larger gatherings open for advance reservation. If you happen to camp during the weekend, there are many park-directed activities to enjoy.

Driving
RVs or any type of vehicle can easily access Levi Jackson State Park. Conveniently located south of London, off I-75, it is straightforward to drive to the park. Interior roads will take you to all point of interests from historical sites and the swim area to the campsites and picnic area. Some campers have reported that some interior roads within the campground have tight turns. If you are coming with your camper or RV, you will love the fact that there are no driving restrictions and that the campground is big-rig friendly. The park is served by many parking lots.

Levi Jackson State Park RV Camping
Levi Jackson State Park features a pet-friendly campground with sites for tents, trailers, and RVs spread across different loops. The park has a total of 146 campsites. Most of the sites are wide and spaced out. 95 campsites are equipped with electric and water hookups, while 20 are full-hookup sites with sewer connections.
Amenities in the campground include a grocery store, fire ring, dump station, laundry facilities, picnic tables, three bathhouses, showers, and restrooms. Campsites can fit vehicles with a maximum of 85 feet. Each site allows a maximum of eight campers with an additional fee per extra camper. Campsites are open for reservations up to 11 months in advance.
Pets are welcome but should be on a leash. There is free Wi-Fi connectivity, although the signal may be weak. Cellular coverage is available

In-Season
Hiking
Nothing is more fulfilling than walking in the footsteps of the early settlers. Levi Jackson State Park features eight and a half miles of trails. The one-mile Wilderness Road Trail is actually a section of the historic pioneer trail that cuts through the park’s forest. History buffs will love a stroll down the trail named after Daniel Boone. Additionally, there are nearly five miles of the unmarked and undeveloped Fraizer Knob Trail for adventurous visitors.
Aerial Adventure Park
An aerial adventure is a unique way to explore the magical landscape of Levi Jackson State Park. Opened in 2016 the Levi Jackson treetop adventure park futures over 50 elements of fun and has been drawing people of all ages to the park. You can enjoy a bird’s eye view of the rolling hills and forest. Equipped with zip lines, rope bridges, and suspended tunnels, the park offers amazing and fun treetop adventures.
Swimming
The community pool opens seasonally from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The pool has two water slides, a concession area, and children pool. Guests can relax in the lounge chairs as they enjoy watching their kids have fun. There is a lifeguard available and campers enjoy discounted prices.
Off-Season
Visiting the Mountain Life Museum
Once inside the park, it is hard to miss a series of seven pioneer buildings used to preserve the history of early settlers. This lively pioneer museum is adorned by old cabins and artifacts such as pioneer relics, tools, farm products, tools, and household items. If you want to purchase local crafts they are available in the gift shop housed within the museum
Vsiting the McHargue Mill
One of the iconic attractions in Levi Jackson State Park is McHargue Mill. Named after William McHargue this mill is a replica of the original McHargue family water-powered grist and sawmill built in 1812. The replica mill was built by Civilian Conservation Corps and uses turbines to operate. The mill is still operational and you can purchase cornmeal. Here RV visitors can see the spectacular display of millstones.
Playing on the Playfields
Levi Jackson State Park encourages RV campers to maintain an active lifestyle by exercising. So if you are not into hiking and swimming you can still enjoy the serenity of the park by playing a game of your choice. This park futures volleyball courts, basketball courts, and horseshoe pits. Not far from the campground there are miniature golf courses that open seasonally
