Took my mom out on a Mother’s Day shroomon trip yesterday. Put on a few miles and had s lot of fun. Would guess things are winding down in our area.

While living in lower Michigan we would call morel hunting “roonin” which grampa (big bluegill slayer) from Indiana started & us kids would race to the woods/ravines that had dead elms on our 3-wheelers each spring after school . Deer camp yesterday & on an average year there’s up to 30 black morels in the yard , only found one this trip . Cooler temps at nite (as low as 30 degrees) may have prevented growth some . Back up in a week for some camp work & maybe some roonin!!    šŸ¦Œ

Nice pics guys. It’s been a good year for finding them in SW WI. I went back to the same spot 4-5 days after first trip to re pick, surprised to end up with more than the first time. Got another 5-6 lbs. Lots of dying ash trees in there. But that spot is done for this season.

Maybe a Mother’s Day feast of steaks, fish and shrooms. Speaking of that, my mom is a mushroom hound and still really gets after them. She was proud of this giant one she found, so sent me the pic. It made me laugh.

MUSCODA MOREL FEST coming up this weekend in Grant County if anyone is bored and looking for a day trip. Haven’t been to it in years, but they draw a crowd. All things mushroom…

Went walking today with my wife, found a few of all types. All new areas for us, we lost access to our old area. Used permethrin on our clothes this time , not a tick on either of us. This has been a terrible year for them. My vet has told me never to take the pups off the deterrent.

I've seen those Ranger, was just buying this for the season.  I believe I've seen your posts on the lymes thread. I had it for at least 10 months before we figured it out myself.  The little buggers are terrible this year by us. I think the warm weather and amount of rain really helped them out. Thank you for the advice.

Pool instead of spraying on the permethrin, which only last for a short while, a better option if you spend any amount of time in the field or woods, is to lay down the shekels and buy a set of clothing with the permethrint infused into the fabric. It lasts for the life of the clothing, and it works like magic. I've made other posts talking about this product but it's always worth mentioning again cuz those ticks are nasty little disease carriers. Elimatic is the only company I know of that makes infuse clothing in a camo pattern.

I got out for an hour or so yesterday, and came home with about 4lbs of nice ones. Felt good to get out, and the rain we’ve been getting is a real blessing. Haven’t had a lot of time, but chasing shrooms and gobblers are two of my favorite parts of spring. Bird is from a hunt with a good bud of mine in first season Good picking to all.

Bud, I sent you a message.
Ticks are brutal,  even with deep woods off. Gonna get permithin ,not sure on the spelling.  Gonna spray a few sets of clothing for the wife and me.
No asparagus by me, I wish.
